Nestled between Wilmette and Winnetka on the shores of Lake Michigan, the community is also ideally located in relation to the surrounding areas and Chicago.

This is an intimate community where residents get to know one another through all of the community organizations and activities. Rare among any community is the existence of just "one" elementary school, Sears School, that takes children from Kindergarten through 8th grade when they matriculate to New Trier High School which coincidentally is just down the street from Sears. The residents of all ages in Kenilworth support a multitude of activities from theater to lacrosse to dances for the parents and friends at The Kenilworth Club. Sears School is host to the "Mother-Daughter banquet, the "Halloween Tunnel" parade on Halloween, the 8th Grade play with 100% student participation, "Wildcats vs Tigers", "Scamper Night" which is a concert put on by the Girl Scouts and every year the *8th Grade Graduation" after which the kids parade through the town in convertibles driving by the homes of each graduate.

The community also has a wonderful Memorial Day Parade ceremony where everyone in the community gets involved and participates with the neighboring Village of Wilmette in the July 4th parade and fireworks on Lake Michigan. The Girl Scout and Boy Scout programs have the highest level of Silver Awards and Eagle awards on the North Shore. The Sears School gymnasium is host to many community basketball and volleyball competitions. The Kenilworth Park District supports many community activities including Little Springs and Spirits summer camps and hosts many activities like yoga, book club, TGIF and holiday celebrations at The Kenilworth Club. Everyone in the Village can walk to Sears School and the adjacent Townley playfield where kids practice field hockey, soccer, lacrosse, football and baseball. Additionally, one of the North Shore's best baseball fields for the younger children is Pee Wee Field just west of Green Bay Road. And all can enjoy the beautiful Kenilworth beach and waters of Lake Michigan through the Kenilworth Sailing Club.

Although Kenilworth is ranked as one of the most affluent communities in the country, it provides an idyllic, small town experience that you find when driving or walking through town. While Kenilworth does not have its own library, the community does support the Village's own Kenilworth Library Board and works with the libraries of neighboring Winnetka and Wilmette which Kenilworth residents can use. For the most part, the Village is laid out on a grid pattern and offers somewhat uniform property lot sizes - the original planning of the Village in the late 19th century focused on paved streets, maximizing sunlight, no alleys or fences, underground utilities and quality construction standards on large lots. The Village offers great services with its own police department (which hosts annual open houses to the community) and maintains a friendly presence in the community. The Village offers recycling and refuse collection and prides itself on excellent maintenance of infrastructure. Even today, the Village is constructing a "green" rainwater management system below the streets and parkways of the Village which will be one of the first of its kind in the nation. The historic train station is centrally located and provides commuter train service to downtown Chicago which is only 25 minutes away by train. Kenilworth also has the only roundabout in the area which has the original Village "entry" fountain at its center. A wonderful all-around community where you cannot imagine living anywhere else.
